Father Christmas
Santa Claus visits every country in the world, but is known by many different names! In England, Santa Claus is still looked forward too by every child, but is known as Father Christmas instead! On Christmas Eve families in England hear their favorite Christmas story while sitting around the Christmas tree. After they have heard the story children write their letters to Father Christmas, but instead of mailing them they throw their letters into the fire! Their wishes burn and goup the chimney where Father Christmas is able to read them again! Just like in America, Father Christmas will only stop by after children have fallen asleep.
A lot of the traditions that we have for the holidays were brought over from England and we still do many of them today. This includes putting stockings up by the chimney so Father Christmas can fill them up with small presents and candies.
